I always dreamt of a historical vacation, and the destination shall be Spain.I have been there once...ohhh such a nice country but poor me,i just got the chance to visit Barcelona due to my health condition ( at that time i was 2 months pregnant)....
And this time, insyaallah if i have the money, the health and the courage to travel alone,i want to go to Madrid.Yes Madrid....such a beautiful city....
Here's an article that i CnP from www.doitinmadrid.com
Madrid is located at the very heart of the Iberian Peninsula, representing its geographical, economic and cultural centre. Thanks to its central location, its climate is characterised by warm summers and mild winters. It was founded by the Muslims, who named it Mayrit, from the Arabic term “Mayra”, (meaning water as “trees” or “giver of life” ) and the Iberic-Roman suffix “it” that means “place”. Then in 1083 Alfonso VI King of Castile took control of the city and established the Catholic religion and culture. Since 1562, when it was declared capital of Spain, his fortunes have mirrored those of Spain. Madrid has become a real metropolis, the most populated in Spain and the third in Europe. His geographical and urban disposition make it very similar to the most important European capitals. Madrid is very lively and dynamic. There are plenty of things to do, and you won’t get bored. First of all it is a city of culture, as it hosts some of the most famous arts museums, like Prado, Reina Sofia and Thyssen-Bornemisza. Secondly this town offers a wide range of options for your free time. For example you can choose among the shops of Salamanca district displaying the most famous labels and El Mercado del Rastro a very big Market Flea where you can nose around the stalls and find cheap things.
Otherwise if you want to have rest after your tour, go to El Parque del Buen Retiro, a peaceful oasis away from the city chaos or in one of the numerous cafes of the town. Finally nightlife lovers can experience here the well-known Movida Madrileña, a real explosion of lights and colours. You can start by a tapas bar, and then pop in one of the numerous bars and discos of the town. Don’t forget that night in Madrid never ends!
